The mathematics paper was moderate but slightly time taking due to the lengthy calculations involved. A few good questions were interspersed sporadically. Questions were asked about Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors & 3D and Algebra. Coordinate Geometry was dominant in the paper. There were two questions from Matrix and determinants, three questions from Vectors and 3D, one question from Statistics and three questions from Continuity and Differentiability. Almost all the topics were covered. Again practice through mock tests holds the key.

According to students XII Physics had more weightage on paper. Solving a good number of mock tests would prove to be an effective strategy.

As per Aakash BYJU’S analysis, the majority of the paper was based on NCERT textbooks and examples. Physical chemistry comprised the majority of the numerical-based problems, with Organic and Inorganic Chemistry accounting for the rest. Overall, the questions from the Physical, Organic and Inorganic branches were more or less evenly distributed. There were questions from important topics like equilibrium, thermodynamics, redox reactions, chemical bonding, and chemical kinetics. The chapters’ coverage was uniform overall. The study gave good weight to inorganic chapters including Coordination Compounds, D-block, and P-block.

According to Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash BYJU’S, The paper was of Easy to Moderate level. Physics was the easiest of the lot whereas Mathematics because of some lengthy calculations were considered to be a bit difficult by many students.

Weightage is given to Alcohols, Ethers & Phenols, and Aryl & Alkyl halides in Organic Chemistry. Ionic Equilibrium, Mole Concept, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics. Inorganic Chemistry had questions from Chemistry in Everyday Life, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Bonding and Metallurgy.

Chapters covering kinematics, laws of motion, heat and thermodynamics, SHM and waves, current electricity, electrostatics, AC circuits, modern physics, semiconductors, and magnetism were given more weightage than others. Magnetism Numerical-based questions were reported as Easy. This section was balanced but had many tricky questions.

Chapters on coordinate geometry and algebra were given more weightage. There were questions on the parabola, ellipse, definitive integrals, area, differential equations, matrices, probability, determinants, vectors, three-dimensional geometry, binomial theorem, complex numbers, and progression series.

Students were not allowed to carry anything inside the examination hall except a transparent ballpoint Pen, Admit Card & Aadhar Card. All guidelines as released by NTA earlier were followed for the safety of the exam takers.

As per the students, Maths was Moderately Tough while Physics was Moderate & Chemistry was Easy to Moderate Level. Overall, this paper was above Moderate

The marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for thecorrect response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted. Marking scheme for numerical based questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response and 0 in all other cases. 

The Questions covered almost all chapters of Class XI & XII CBSE Board.

The paper had three parts & each part had two sections. Each part had 30 questions – Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers & Sec-II had 10 Numerical based questions out of which only 5 had to be attempted.

JEE Main 2023: In terms of order of difficulty – Maths was moderately tough while Physics was easy to moderate level, while Chemistry was easy. Overall, this paper was moderate level as per students.

In the numerical section, Physical Chemistry got higher weight than Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Compared to organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry was given higher weight. Chemical equilibrium, atomic structure, electrochemistry, polymers, biomolecules, hydrocarbons, ethers and phenols, aryl and alkyl halides, environmental chemistry, everyday chemistry, and chemical kinetics were among the topics covered in the questions.

Shift 2 of JEE Main January 30 exam will begin at 3 pm. 

Here’s what NTA said about JEE Main admit card for January 31 and February 1 exams.

Many students on social media have complaimed that they have not been issued JEE Main admit card for January 31 and February 1 exams. Some others have claimed that their exam venues were changed last minute.

The first shift of January 30 JEE Main exam ended at 12 pm. Paper analysis will be provided shortly.

At the end of the JEE Main exam, scribble pages used for rough work must be put inside the drop box provided at exam venue. Candidates are not allowed to take these outside. They must also drop the admit card.

NTA will upload JEE Main question papers, candidates’ recorded responses and preliminary answer keys on jeemain.nta.nic.in after February 1. 

Analysis of JEE Main morning shift paper will be provided after 12 pm.

JEE Main 2023 paper 1, shift 1 has started. The exam will end at 12 pm. 

The first shift of JEE Main 2023 January 30 exam will begin at 9 am. The duration of the paper is 3 hours. 

JEE Main 2023 admit card for January 30 exam has been released. Candidates can download it from jeemain.nta.nic.in. 

• Do not wear closed footwear or footwear with thick soles like shoes or heels. Instead, go for slippers or sandals with low heels. 
• Go for light coloured clothes with half sleeves like T shirts. Avoid clothes with large buttons and any type of jewelry.  
• If you wear a specific attire for religious or customary reasons, reach the exam venue early and undergo mandatory frisking.

• Do not carry personal belongings like handbags, mobile phones, communication/electronic devices, etc. If you do, ensure safe keeping of these items on your own as there may or may not be storage space inside the exam venue.
• Do not wear caps, dupatta, sunglasses etc. 
• Metalic objects, including watches, calculators are strictly prohibited. The exam console will show a clock/timer so that candidates can keep track.

Shift 1: From 9 am to 12 pm

Shift 2: From 3 pm to 6 pm

On January 30, NTA will hold JEE Main 2023 for BE/BTech or paper 1 candidates in two shifts.
