Physical Chemistry was given more weightage in Numerical Section as compared to Organic & Inorganic Chemistry. Weightage given to Alcohols, Ethers & Phenols, Aryl & Alkyl halides in Organic Chemistry. Ionic Equilibrium, Mole Concept, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics. Inorganic Chemistry had questions from s-block, p-block, Chemical Bonding and Metallurgy.

 Chapters on kinematics, laws of motion, heat and thermodynamics, SHM and waves, current electricity, electrostatics, AC circuits, modern physics, semiconductors, and magnetism were given more weight.

Calculus and algebra chapters received weighting. Questions were asked on the parabola, the ellipse, the area, the definite integrals, the determinants, the vectors, the binomial theorem, the complex numbers, and the progression series.

As per the students, Questions covered almost all chapters of Class XI & XII CBSE Board. It was a balanced paper.

Maths was Moderate while Physics & Chemistry were Easy to Moderate Level. Overall, this paper was Moderate level as per students.

The JEE Main 2023 Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) total duration of the examination is 180 minutes.

The marking scheme for multiple choice questions was +4 for the correct response, -1 for the incorrect response, and 0 if not attempted. The marking scheme for numerical-based questions was +4 for the correct response, -1 for the incorrect response and 0 in all other cases.

Non-identical twins from Bharatpur, Aditya Sharma and Anurag Sharma, who were to take their JEE-Mains earlier this week, alleged Saturday that they missed the test as the National Testing Agency withheld their admit cards over “doubtful credentials”.

The second shift of JEE Main January 29 exam is being held from 3 pm to 6 pm. 

The chemistry paper had a total of 30 questions – Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers & Sec-II had 10 Numerical based questions out of which only 5 had to be attempted.

 Inorganic and organic chemistry were given more weightage. Most of the numerically based problems were from physical chemistry, namely electrochemistry, the mole concept, and ionic equilibrium.

 Simple Questions on Kinematics, Friction, Laws of Motion, Heat and Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Surface Tension, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, Friction, Wave Optics, Semiconductors, and Communication Systems. Few Numerical based questions were Easy.   According to the students, this part was balanced overall.

All topics of mathematics were covered in the moderately difficult questions, with a focus on the chapters on conic sections and algebra. Straight lines, circles, hyperbola, the binomial theorem, complex numbers, statistics, mathematical reasoning, probability, matrices, progressions, three-dimensional geometry, definite integrals, area under curves, and differential equations were some of the topics covered in some excellent questions. Few MCQ questions were reported as being lengthy and tricky.

Shift 1 of JEE Main January 29 exam started at 9 am. The Engineering paper will continue till 12 pm. 

For JEE Main exam, wear slippers/sandals with low heels. Avoid closed footwear like shoes. Wear light cloths with half sleeves (T shirt, etc) and avoid long sleeves. Avoid garments with large buttons. 

In a recent notice, NTA said JEE Main admit card for January 28, 29 and 30 exams have been released. JEE Main admit card for January 31 and February 1 exams will be issued subsequently, it added.

On January 29, NTA will conduct JEE Main exam for Engineering aspirants (Paper 1, BE/BTech) in two shifts. The first shift begins at 9 am.

Mobile phone, headphones, Bluetooth and other communication devices, calculators, pen, watch, sunglasses, hat, etc are not allowed inside exam hall. A timer/clock will be displayed on the exam console so that candidates can keep track of time.
